Grebenstein
11 Years ago I lived in Grebenstein with the "Schatzinger family" as an exchange student for seven weeks. Working my way up north from Switzerland to Holland, I stopped off in Germany for a week and stayed with the Schatzingers and caught up with some friends there too... Grebenstein is a little town half an hour out of the city Kassel, (right in the middle of Germany).
Gertrud (mother), myself, and Rudi (father).
Cora, Filipe, Christoph Schatzinger (son), Aki, Markus, Katharina Schatzinger (daughter)... Cora is a wonderful jazz saxophonist. She brought her horn around that day and we jammed for a few hours. Christoph made an occasion out of it, and put a poster up outside the house, promoting "The Grebenstein Jazz Festival" !! ...
... with Martin Schatzinger (son). Martin came out to Australia as an exchange student with my family, and then 6 months later I went back to stay with his, which is how we all met - back in 1992.
... with my friend Katrin (from Kassel). I met Katrin in 1993, when she came out to Australia. We wrote to each other for several years, and then she came out again to stay with our family while I was at Uni. I hadn't seen her in 8 years ! We had a quick catch up, although as I was sick for most of my time in Germany, I had to go home quite soon, - I felt terrible that day.
