Mollis
Mollis - about 70kms south east from Zurich. My whole life I have dreamed of going to switzerland, to look at the green grass, the small towns surrounded by alps, the quaint little church with the tall steeple, the cows with bells round their necks, and the little doll like houses with flower pots hanging from the window sills... This town had it all.

Another view of Mollis. The Bachmann's house (where I stayed) is just visible in the background.

We went out onto the Walensee one day, Walter, Jacky and I. In Mollis (well a lot of Europe actually), people come home from work at lunchtime and eat at home. Shops and most things except restaurants are closed for a couple of hours in the middle of the day. So when Walter got home we hopped in the car down to the lake, grabbed the boat and went out. I didnt swim, though I was happy enough just to relax and enjoy the scenery.
This is not a painting !
The Bachmann's ... Jacky, Walter and their daughter Steffi. They also have another daughter Karrin and a son Max. I met Walter in York (WA) last year at a fest there. He was (is) the trumpet player and bandleader of a swiss jazz group called 'The Elite Syncopators'.
Steffi and I.
Rolf Treichler and I. Rolf was the Trombone player and singer from the Syncopators. The night I arrived at the Bachmanns house (also being the first night in Europe, so I was a bit worn out from the flights) Walter invited his band over for a jamms session ... Funnily enough I made it through without needing to crash. We jammed till about 10pm. A few nights later, Rolf came over for dinner with his wife and afterwards we put on an impromtu concert for the family --
-- just trombone and piano. He is such an amazing player - this was one of the most beautiful musical experiences I've ever had. He played so mellow and lyrical, but also had the chops to really swing out. I promised Rolf then and there that one day we're going to record a duet album together. I keep my promises !
Above: The Bachmann's swimming pool ! - A fountain built for one - as soon as I arrived at the house, I got changed and jumped in (following Walters orders). It was so hot there, and I had been dressed for winter on the flight. It was heaven - just lay there and looked out onto the mountain.
The town church.
Just a cute little street in Mollis.
Imagine sticking this pic on the left of the first pic on this page - for a panoramic view.
